Before short-form content had taken off through Tiktok etc., I had the bright idea to make an album of songs each lasting exactly one minute. I thought this was a completely novel, unique idea and aren’t I so clever, give me a medal. Anyway, it turns out loads of people have done this kind of thing before and since, notably (in my book) the 1980 compilation Miniatures: A Sequence Of Fifty-One Tiny Masterpieces. There are many, many other examples though. So instead of showering me with the accolades that come with discovering A Completely Original Concept, consider this my submission into the actually-quite-popular genre of Purposefully Brief Songs.
